Common questions
Clear answers before you share your information.
Understanding the roles, limitations, and risks is part of making a better decision.
What does BetterRelief.org do?
We provide marketing and education and collect information used to check whether loans may qualify for a specialized debt-relief program. We do not negotiate or settle debt ourselves.
Does it cost anything to check my loans?
No. BetterRelief.org does not charge you to explore whether your loans may qualify or whether the program may fit. If you enroll with the service provider, program fees may apply and should be disclosed before enrollment.
Will several companies receive my information?
No. We do not send your request to a marketplace of competing providers. We use your information to understand your request and connect you with the service provider described to you.
Who provides the debt-settlement service?
Our current exclusive service partner is Global DS Group. The partner handles program enrollment, servicing, and creditor negotiations.
Will every payday or tribal loan qualify?
No. Whether a loan qualifies depends on the lender, type of debt, balance, state, and individual circumstances. Consumer eligibility is considered separately.
Does debt settlement guarantee that I will pay less?
No. Results are never guaranteed. A creditor may decline to settle, and balances may grow while an account is unresolved.
Is debt settlement the same as consolidation?
No. Consolidation generally replaces debts with a new loan. Settlement involves seeking an agreement with a creditor about an existing balance.
Will exploring my options affect my credit?
Completing the website form does not itself change your credit. Enrolling in and participating in a debt-settlement program may affect your credit and can involve other risks.
